Friday was NOT a good for us, especially our Baby. Daycare called at 11 to let me know that the Baby was very fussy, not sleeping, and seemed to be in pain. I visited him at lunch and we thought it was gas. The doctor didn't want to see him and recommended a few things to try.
Our Baby was pretty hot when he arrived home at 5:30, so I took his temperature. It was 102!! I immediately called the doctor and they wanted to see him right away. The Baby screamed (not cried, SCREAMED) the whole afternoon & evening. Nothing seemed to pacify him.
The doctor couldn't find anything wrong with him (ears, throat, etc.), so he sent us to the hospital to get some tests run on the Baby. He had to get a chest X-ray, which was pretty easy. He laid on a table and I had to hold his arms over his head. (This was a much better experience than when Buddy had to get one done 6 months ago.) Of course, the Baby screamed the whole time.
He also had to get blood work done. No heel pricks this time. They had to find a vein in his arm & draw from there. It was pretty horrible! The first guy had Baby on the table & had a really rough time finding a vein. He put the needle in & kept moving it around. Thankfully, he didn't try again and called in someone to do it. The next lady let me hold him & finally found a vein that worked.
The doctor called us late that night with the results from all of the tests. Baby's tests didn't reveal anything wrong (no bacteria, infection, etc.), so he thought it was something viral. We're just supposed to keep him comfortable. The doctor was very nice & even called then next day to check on Baby.
Baby's fever was 103 the next day, but wasn't crying as much. He slept most of the day since he hadn't slept much at all the day before.
Baby's fever broke on Sunday and then later returned at bedtime. He smiles occasionally & seems happy to stretch out on the floor. He screams whenever we pick him up or move him, so something is still not quite right. Poor, poor Baby.
