My Work Halloween Party

One last Halloween post...

Each year, my work goes all out for Halloween. Each department decorates their area and has way too much candy for trick-or-treaters. We also have a pumpkin carving contest for the kids and costume contest for the employees.

This was the first year in many years that the hubby hasn't dressed up. He had a costume, but there just wasn't a good time to wear it. (It gets busy keeping up with the 3 kids and their candy!) I love love love Halloween and dressed up for work again this year.

We had some really great costumes at work. I thought I'd share a few.....

Wrestlemania

The hubby and I bought a new mattress set earlier this year. We're kind of in the Goldilocks situation with our bed - the old one is too hard, the new one was too soft, and we have yet to find one just right.

Since we resorted back to our old mattress, we put the new one in storage in the basement. One brilliant member of the family suggested we bring it upstairs for family movie night. The kids LOVE it! It's provided hours of wrestling fun during wild times and super comfy cuddle sessions while watching their favorite shows.

Sugie's Parent-Teacher Conference

Last month, I had a phone conference with Sugie's 2nd Grade teacher. Since she's a straight A student and not a problem in class, we didn't feel that it was necessary for a face-to-face conference.

Everything I heard from her teacher was what I expected to hear about our angel:

• She's a joy to have in the classroom
• She's at an advanced reading level
• Sometimes Sugie can be a little social :)
• She's a very sweet, caring girl
• She does well at all subjects
• The teacher had no concerns at all

Way to go, Sugie! We're so proud of you!

...a naked baby!! Little E LOVES streaking through the house before bathtime!! He must feel so free!

He had some streaking time on Halloween and happened to run into the foyer right as Sugie was passing out candy to trick-or-treaters. I'm sure that they got more than they bargained for!

Halloween 2010

I love that Halloween was on a weekend! It definitely made our lives less hectic! We did some Halloween visits on the night before. We finished up on Sunday afternoon, which left the rest of the evening for trick-or-treating in the neighborhood and answering the door for treaters.

This year, Little E was a frog. He so loves his bath tub frogs and calls them "ribbits".

Buddy was Woody from Toy Story, of course! We knew that he was going to dress as this since July!
Sugie saw this Bride costume at the store and exclaimed, "I have the perfect shoes for that dress!" So, this HAD to be her costume! I must say she did look beautiful and was the only bride I saw.
Please note: Sugie's tennis shoes in this pic are not the shoes she normally wore with this dress. Those were comfy shoes for walking up and down the neighborhood streets!
We spent about 1 1/2 hours in our neighborhood with our close friends and their boys. Sugie and the oldest boy loved running ahead and visiting a few extra houses.
For most of the time, Little E stayed in the stroller. A lot of our neighbors bring their fire pits and grills to the driveway and have a good time with all of the trick-or-treating. Little E did insist on getting out and visiting at these houses!

Sugie and Buddy set up camp at the front door and waited for trick-or-treaters. (This is her favorite part of Halloween!) Since we are on a hill and not in the busy part of the subdivision, we don't get many kids. But, Sugie was thrilled to hand out candy to about 15 of them!

The Best Party Ever

We went to our church for one of the best parties ever a week before Halloween! It was so much fun and there was SO much to do! It started off with a costume showcase and parade.

The parade led to a back parking lot for a trunk-or-treat. For days after this, Buddy kept saying, "I love trick or trunking!"
Then, we changed out of costumes and went around front to a petting zoo! There were bunnies, a calf, miniature horse, and goats. Little E squealed with delight when he saw the animals!


Buddy loved the cow, but especially loved petting the soft bunnies. He loved this part!


It rained heavily for about 10 minutes right when we finished up with the petting zoo. It was the perfect time to head indoors for those fun activities! There were two huge inflatables to play on, a tatooing station, and face painting station. We also took time to eat walking tacos, hot dogs, chips, and fruit.
After dinner, I was so excited to try out the Segways! I had never been on one before. It was definitely a weird feeling. It moves based on the position of your body. I mastered that part, but didn't like turning. After a very short jaunt, I was done! The hubby then tried it out and did much better that I did. We almost signed up for a Segway tour of San Francisco a few years ago. I can't imagine touring a whole city like that!

The kids played on the playground for a little bit and then wanted to play a few other games.

We capped off the day by listening to a band. Little E danced and danced and danced. It was one of the cutest things I've ever seen!! He's so adorable!

Buddy's old preschool teacher grabbed him and danced with him for awhile. It was a fabulous evening full of fun!!

We had our annual pumpkin carving time a week before Halloween. My work has a big Halloween party, which included a pumpkin carving contest for kids this year, so we let Sugie pick out a kids carving kit for her pumpkin.

Sugie picked out a cat design. Sugie was the only brave one to help clean out the pumpkin goo! Then, both kids traced the design onto the pumpkin.
Sugie cut some of the pumpkin pieces out, but I took over after her arm got tired. For Buddy's pumpkin, we let him pick out pieces from a funny face kit. You push the pieces into the pumpkin, like Mr. Potato Head.

By the way, both of the kids pumpkins won prizes in the contest at work!! Sugie got "MOST ORIGINAL" and won a pumpkin piggy bank. Buddy's pumpkin was voted "FUNNIEST" and won a Halloween video! They were so thrilled!!!

Each year, the boy's school hosts a Family Fun Night, which consists of dinner, Halloween costumes, fun, and games.
