Sick Day

My precious little baby boy came home from school yesterday with a fever.  He was very lethargic and went to bed at 6 pm!!  I stayed  home with him today.  He would act fine for an hour and then be inconsolable for 1/2 an hour.  Poor little guy!!  He kept asking for his sissy all day!  She went to school because it was her sprinkler day,  her class was having an ice cream sundae party, and I don't want her to get what Buddy has.

Pic from last year's Balloon Glow before the balloons were "glowing".

We had been planning on going to the Balloon Glow at the airport tonight, but didn't know what to do about Buddy.  Mother Nature solved that problem for us by bringing on a nasty storm front.  I'm bummed that we didn't get to see the hot air balloons a-glow in the dark, but we had a fun evening cuddling on the couch watching the storms.

The Water Show

We took the kids to The Water Show at the library tonight.  I really didn't know what to expect, although the ad suggested to bring towels.  We had a ball!!!  The kids were sprayed with the hose several times and the host performed a lot of neat water tricks.  He mostly picked on the older kids by continuously soaking them with the hose, but Buddy and Sugie got their fair share of soakings!!  Sugie absolutely LOVED it.  Buddy wasn't too sure about it, but was a good sport. (He was mostly excited about picking out Wiggles movies after the show.) When the show was over, the host still had some water toys filled with water.  We told him that Sugie was nearly wet enough, so he dumped a bucket of water on her head.  It was hilarious!!!  What a fun evening!

Girls Night In!

Last week, the hubby was over at friend's house for the evening. Buddy was extra tired from waking up at 5:30 am (thank you, Buddy!) and taking only a 1 hour nap. Sugie and I put the cranky Buddy to bed early, so we had a Girl's Night! We had a big time! I wanted an ice cream party, but Sugie wanted to have a popcorn party. She was most thrilled about drinking Mt. Dew with her popcorn! We played games, watched the US Gymnastic trials, which Sugie thoroughly enjoyed, and made a super tent out of the pillows. I love my girl time with my precious daughter!

BTW - The boys had Man Time the day before when Sugie and I went to her 8000th birthday party in three months! Seriously, we've had 12 birthday parties in the last 14 weeks. Only two more left, but then we start wedding season!

Happy Father's Day!!

Father's Day was just ok.  The day started off with a special breakfast I picked up for the hubby.  (He wanted chocolate chip pancakes, but I made those the day before.)  Then, the kids gave him cards that they had made at school.  They melted my heart b/c they were so precious.  Now I understand why my dad always loved our homemade cards!!

After church, we met the family for lunch.  When we walked in, the hostess told us that someone in our party had fallen at church and was at the hospital.  Since we had been at church with everyone except my grandma and grandpa, I knew that something terrible had happened to my dear, sweet grandma.  She's just so fragile.  She broke a few bones and will be in the hospital and rehab for awhile.  We hope she starts feeling better soon and has a fast recovery!

In the afternoon, we played some Wii and went swimming.  After dinner, we went out for some ice cream to celebrate the hubby one more time!  He's such a wonderful dad and hubby and we're so thankful for all that he does for us!

I also called my dad in Arizona to wish him a special Father's Day!   The card and pictures I sent to him last week were returned to me in a "So Sorry" envelope from the post office.  Everything was wet and the address had been smeared off of the card.  I guess his card ended up in the flood waters somehow!  Sorry dad - I had good intentions!

Splash Park

As I mentioned in an earlier post, Buddy isn't too fond of the big swimming pool.  I guess he feels confined in his float and wants to splash around like his sister.  So, I got him his own personal splash park.  (Our other kiddie pool got punctured at Sugie's birthday party!)  It has a slide, basketball goal, ring game, and wading pool.  The sprinkler hooks up to it to create a wall of water to slide through.  He absolutely LOVES it!!  He splashes and jumps and plays around like a crazy little man!

Relaxing (?) Walk

Tuesday evening after dinner, I suggested that we go on a walk around the neighborhood. The family usually enjoys it and it gives me and the hubby some time to chat about our day. The kids rode in the wagon the other night. Instead of sitting in her seat, which faces her brother, Sugie turned around the other way with her back to him. Big mistake!! We were about ¾ of the way home when Sugie decided that she wanted to walk with us. But, where were her shoes? We all looked at Buddy and knew what had happened. He even confirmed for us that “sissy’s shoes” went “bye bye”. So, we had to retrace our steps to find the pink flip flops that Buddy had tossed out of the wagon. Crazy kid!

Pink Guitar

I’ve mentioned before that Buddy is really in to the Wiggles. The boy requests to watch the Wiggles before school, in the car on the way to school, on the way home, and while I’m fixing dinner. He’s truly addicted!! Buddy even carries around his Wiggles book with him wherever he goes. There is one Wiggle who plays the guitar. So, Buddy goes searching for Sugie’s pink guitar when the Wiggles are on. That thing is almost as big as he is!! He knows all of their names and what color shirts they each wear. He’ll probably require counseling later in life for this.
