Last Friday night, we spent the evening at the children’s museum. Me and the hubby’s University was having an Alumni Night, so we took the kids and my 10 year old nephew. My kids had been once before, but my nephew had never been. So, I was excited to show him around! We took the kids to the Quack Factory first. It’s a 2 story exhibit with water, balls, ball shooters, and cranes. The kids LOVED this place and were soaking wet by the time we left. Then, my nephew participated in a Dance Dance Revolution challenge. It was hilarious watching him be so serious about his dancing! Buddy didn’t have a clue as to what was going on, but he joined my nephew on stage and started stomping. It was so cute!! My nephew had a ball and made a new friend in each room! We ended up staying 30 minutes past the ending time b/c we were having so much fun. To top off the evening, we were each given a Donut Bank cookie when we left! I have a weakness for those!!

My summer has officially started!!

Thank you, thank you to my hubby for giving me this great gift again this year – my pool!!! He set it up, plugged some holes, and got the water chemically balanced, so that we can enjoy it again this year!!! We spent all of last weekend relaxing in the pool! I can’t believe how hot it is already! But, it really doesn’t matter when you’re floating in the refreshing water! The hubby had some bitterness toward the pool initially, but those moments went away when he napped on his float last Sunday.
Sugie, my water bug, loves the pool and begs every night to go swimming. She started her 2nd session of swim lessons last week and was placed in the advanced class. She’s not scared at all to swim underwater.

Buddy didn’t really like the big pool, so we let him chill in the kiddie pool. He had a super time splashing around. To get him used to the whole pool idea, I told him it was like a big bathtub. So, of course, when I mentioned that it was bath time the other night, he ran to the window and pointed to the pool!!!

How can she be 5 already?

Where has the time gone? My little angel is now 5 years old! Even she can’t believe it because she has excitedly asked several times, “Am I really 5?” She looked perfectly precious on her big day! She really develops a different air about her when she has curly hair! We took treats into school, where she got to wear a special crown all day. I fixed her favorite meal for dinner – saucy noodles – and we had a little party with just our family that night. She’s always begging to use our digital camera, but after our incident last year that broke our camera, I haven’t let her use it. So, we got her a pink digital camera for her birthday. She’s taken so many pictures already – some of her daddy, some of Buddy, some of my feet, and the front door. She’s thrilled to be 5, but has one concern. She knows that when you turn 5, you get to go to Kindergarten. To get into Kindergarten, you have to get shots. The poor thing has been worried about these shots for the past 6 months. We’ll see how they go next month! It helps that her friend Jacob got his shots the day before her water party and actually survived!

And the birthday parties continue…..

Sugie had yet another birthday to go to – her OWN (again)! This one was a party for the family and was much easier to put on than the water party the day before. About 30 minutes before her big party, Sugie fell asleep on the couch!! She was a little confused when she awoke, but quickly got into full party mode. Sugie opened presents and we ate strawberry cake. I let Sugie pick the cake out of the book at the grocery store. She was sold on the Hannah Montana cake the second I read that it came with a lip gloss guitar!! Her only instructions for the cake lady were to make it pink and don’t forgot the lip gloss! We showed everyone the videos of her graduation and dance recital. While the recital video was playing, Sugie ran into her room, changed into her costume, and treated us to a live performance! As usual, Sugie changed outfits and shoes at least three times during the party. (I have a bad feeling that she’ll require at least two different wedding dresses when that day comes!) It was a fun party and was great to catch up with the family!

Splish Splash Bash

I debated this year whether or not to let Sugie have a birthday party with her friends. But, since this will be the last summer with her preschool friends, I decided to let her have a party. We had the standard party last year at our house – games and cake. I just remember it being so hot outside last year that all of the kids were sweaty and red-faced when the came inside for treats. So, we had a Water Party this year, complete with a slip-n-slide, kiddie pool, sprinkler, and bounce house. We had 16 kids, ranging from 5 months to 8 years old, and we had a BLAST!! It was the perfect hot, muggy afternoon for some water fun. The kids had the most fun with the water balloons and slip-n-slide!!! After getting thoroughly soaked, we headed indoors for an ice cream sundae bar and presents. Some of the kid’s ice cream creations made my stomach turn! When I asked Sugie what her favorite part of the party was, she replied, “Everything!” What a fun day!

Mims

Mims came in from Arizona for a two week visit last month. The kids had a really fun time with her. She picked Sugie up from school and took her shopping. Those girls love to shop! I usually run all of my errands over lunch, so Sugie doesn’t ever really get to shop. Last time they went shopping, Mims let Sugie try on every pair of shoes at the store. That cracks me up! Mims also took Sugie to a big birthday party with her side of the family. Mims picked up Buddy from school and took him to the zoo. This was his first trip to the zoo and he had a really great time. Mims bought him the most precious little hat that he loves to wear. As usual, Mims came loaded with presents for my little darlings! Buddy loves the “neigh” and Sugie loves the swimsuits and purses. Look at the adorable gift bag she made for Sugie's birthday!!!! Thanks for the fun times, Mims!

Smithereens!

This is one of Sugie's favorite words! It's so funny to hear her use it in everyday conversation. She knows the definition and always uses it correctly when speaking. She's such a smart little cookie!
