Back to School Fun

I took a couple of days off work before the kids headed back to school so that we could spend some fun time together.  We went to a movie, had breakfast at Donut Bank, watched our roof leak water into my bedroom during a rainstorm, went shopping, climbed around at a kids play place, visited with Morgan & Ty, played a lot of Wii, had some friends over, and just had fun!!!

Family Skating

Since Sugie started ice skating lessons, she wants to be on the ice all of the time.  So, we've spent a few Sunday afternoons at the rink so she can get some practice time in.  Buddy was also anxious to try it out.
Sugie loves having the full rink to skate around!!
 Look at my baby go!!
This was Buddy's first time on the ice.  He had a hard time staying upright!!  By the end of the session, he was getting better.  He tries to walk on the ice instead of glide.
Even though Buddy fell down almost 100 times (probably not too much of an exaggeration!), he LOVED skating!  He never got a bad attitude about not being able to do it very well.  He never wanted to quit either.  I was so proud of my boy!
E and sat on sides to just watch.  I don't have a great desire to skate and definitely not with a 3 year old!

Burritos

The kids love to be wrapped up like burritos.  I love that they can't move when burrito-fied!

Our Ice Princess

For as long as I can remember, our precious Sugie has wanted to learn to ice skate.  Her favorite movie is the Ice Princess, about a girl learning to skate.  Sugie is the type of kid that gives up if she can't do something the first time.  So, we made her wait to take lessons.  When she learned to roller skate (and love it), I decided it was time for her to test her skills on the ice.

We signed her up for Basics 1, the first class for ice skating lessons.  She LOVED it!!  At the end of her 6 week course, she is graded by the teacher and must pass the skills to advance to the next level.
Sugie was ecstatic to learn she had passed to Basics 2!  She can glide backward and forward, on one foot, and is learning to spin.
Last week, Sugie passed Basics 2 and will start class 3 tonight.  Her teacher wrote on her test booklet:  "Awesome job!  You've got talent!"  We're glad that Sugie has found something that she absolutely loves!
Starting in Basics 2, Sugie started wearing tights and leotard to all lessons.  No other kid does this...just our Sugie and I love it!

Sugie's Summer Camp Program

Sugie attended a summer day camp for three weeks before school started.  The hubby had to go back to work, which was fine with Sugie.  She LOVES summer camp.  Instead of a talent show, they made cupcakes and had an ice cream social for the parents.
Sugie sang a couple of songs.
Although we really like the summer camp, we were ready for Sugie to get back to school.  We found a few questionable apps on her iPod, that most likely were influenced by the older girls at summer camp. I'm so not ready for her to grow up!!

Out with the Kids

A few random pics from eating out with the kids.  When we went to Lic's for ice cream after turning in the kids Summer Reading Program forms.
Sugie's favorite thing to do with corn is to put it on her front teeth.  That's a nice look, precious!

Our last day in Florida

The afternoon when it rained, the kids went to a few activities in the Kids Club.  They all got slushies and Sugie got this hair thing.  I was floored when I heard the price - $33!!!  She loves it, though!

Here's one of the many tents the kids made:
I had to take the standard vacation pic...
Here is the smaller pool at the resort.
Here's the big pool with the rope walk, waterfall, and splash area.

Remember the almost-too-bright-to-look-at-fluorescent swim suit Sugie debuted on Day 1?  It faded A LOT over the week!

The kids are burying D in the sand.
Another nap by the hubby and Little E!   Each night after we put the kids to bed, the adults stayed up rather late playing cards and having fun.  I think the late nights took a toll on the hubby!
We ate at Dewey's in Destin this night.  It was good food, but the set up was rather odd.
Our only family pic from vacation - and it's not very good!
We drove straight home the next day.  It took us about 11.5 hours.  The kids did awesome!  We had a great time on vacation!!!
