The official end of summer

I knew this sad day was coming, but I still wasn't fully prepared for it. The weather has been beautiful here lately. Almost too beautiful because temperatures haven't been high enough to keep the pool heated. So, it was finally time to close down the pool.

Sugie and Buddy loved playing in the 1/2 filled pool! When full, they couldn't touch the bottom. So on Sunday, they splashed, jumped, and ran around like crazy in it. We will miss you, Pool!!

Water Balloons

Sunday was another big day for us! Our neighbor's left in the middle of church to go to the hospital. She's due to have her 4th boy (wow!) this month. So, we split took their oldest son, "C" age 5, and other friends took their 3 and 1 1/2 year olds.

Usually, Sugie and C have the most fun playing together. It was Buddy who thoroughly enjoyed his company today, though. Buddy had a ball wrestling with a boy close to his own age. (He usually gets stuck with his princess sister or the hubby.) Of course, I'm not used to watching boys rough house together and didn't really like watching Buddy get so physical. They had so much fun, though! I better get used to it since this will soon be my everyday reality with Buddy and the Baby.

After C left that afternoon, the hubby took the kids outside for water balloon fun since it was such a beautiful day. (The neighbor's baby decided he didn't want to be born that day!) While they had fun soaking each other, I cleaned up pool equipment. All of a sudden, a water balloon exploded on my back. Thank you, dear sweet hubby!

After changing into dry clothes, I went about my cleanup again. Little Buddy came over to talk to me - or so I thought. I guess he thought it was hilarious when Daddy bombed me with a water balloon, so my precious Buddy broke a huge one over my head. I was so surprised and stunned! I was super duper soaked!! I couldn't help but laugh! After that, Buddy kept trying to get me with his balloons. He's a pistol!

Fun with Friends

What a busy, fun weekend we had! After the fun the kids had with Movie Night on Friday, they were ready for some more excitement on Saturday. So, we had 3 families over for dinner and playtime.

The kids ran around wild in our backyard before dinner. It's funny to watch so many boys fight over a pink motorcycle! (BTW, we had 3 girls and 9 boys, with another boy due any day now!!) After dinner, the kids went swimming or played in the bounce house while all of the parents enjoyed our social time.

Then, almost everyone joined in for a game of wiffle ball. Sugie had some awesome hits - one of them landed on the roof!! It was such a fun evening!!

Movie Night

Friday night was supposed to be family movie night, but Sugie had an altered plan. She brought home from school her best friend's phone number and wanted to watch the movie with her. We agreed to let her come over since the movie was definitely more for them than the rest of us - Hannah Montana the Movie.

At first, all 4 kids (yes, the baby joined in on the fun) sat quietly and watched the movie. They ate their popcorn and wonderfully shared the candy. After 20 minutes, they were done with the movie and ran around the house and played. The girls were really good about including Buddy in the activities. He eventually grew tired of them though and rough-housed with the hubby.

Sugie and her friend had so much fun and wanted to turn the evening into a sleepover party. We told them that we could do that another night. I don't think I'm ready for that!

Up, up, and away!

Buddy got some huge balloons for his birthday. They were 3 ft in length when blown up! The kids were supposed to hold them up in the air & let them go! The balloons flew so high in the air!! One got stuck on the roof temporarily. (The hubby's accurate baseball arm knocked it down with a ball!) We played with these at our cookout on Labor Day. We all had so much fun with them!

There are 2 in the air in this pic - way up high!!

1, 2, & 3

Buddy's 3rd Birthday

Buddy turned 3 last weekend and we celebrated with a Scooby Doo party. (Scooby Doo is his latest obsession!) Buddy had been anxiously waiting for his birthday to arrive. For months, all we heard was, "I want the Scooby Doo minivan for my birthday." Well, it was one of the first gifts he opened, which was a mistake. He wasn't too interested in the rest of his presents after that!

Sugie gladly helped him open the rest of the gifts. He's enjoyed playing with all of his new toys - the puzzles, flip car, football, big balloons (more to come on that), art books, & many more. We surprised him with a train table, which the kids LOVE!

Buddy couldn't wait to dig into his Scooby Doo cake, but had a really difficult time blowing out the candle. I also had Scooby Snacks, which are similar to Teddy Grahams except that they are shaped like dog bones. Buddy thought that they were real dog treats and still won't try them!

It was a fun party!! Buddy and I enjoyed a nice nap together after the gathering, while Sugie & the hubby explored Buddy's new toys. I can't believe that my Buttercups is 3! Thanks to everyone who came to the party & helped us celebrate!
