Something's Missing...

BEFORE:

AFTER:
Sugie lost her first tooth!!! It had been wiggly for quite awhile. Teeth gross me out (along with feet & belly buttons), so I wasn't about to pull it. Same with the hubby. So, she & Jonah worked on it at school last week. Then, the teacher ended up pulling it out for her. She came home with a necklace shaped like a tooth. Inside it was her little bitty tooth!!!
We placed her tooth in her special tooth box. The next morning, Sugie found a certificate from the Tooth Fairy & a dollar bill. Sugie was surprised that the Tooth Fairy knew her name & asked a thousand questions, "How did the Tooth Fairy get in our house?", "How big is she?", etc.
It was a very exciting event for all of us!

Congratulations on this big event, Sugar Bear!!

Nursery Rhymes

Buddy really enjoys his new class & teachers. Last week, they learned nursery rhymes & he came home with a cute project every day.

The first day he made a candlestick. The kids had fun jumping over it. Buddy somehow found the one, teeny tiny sharp spot on it & scraped up his back when he fell during one of his jumps at home. It amazes me how clumsy that kid is!

Each Friday, we are given a container with a weekend assignment. Last Friday, we had to put two hard boiled eggs into the box. Buddy came home on Monday with these Humpty Dumpties. He LOVES them! He wants to sleep with them & take them in the car with him. It's so cute how attached he is to hard-boiled eggs!

Buddy's Baa Baa Black Sheep hat was my favorite! He is just too precious!

Bonfire Fun

Last weekend was full of fun with friends! We spent Saturday evening with two other families. The kids went swimming, jumped on the trampoline until their feet were completely black, played in the sand, and climbed on the playset. We had a wonderful dinner and enjoyed spending time together.

On Sunday evening, we went to our neighbors house for dinner, dessert, and a bonfire!!! The food was great - Sandy's Pizza & an ice cream cake. All of the kids had fun playing together.

It's weird how many times we crossed paths with our neighbors before we got to know them. First, the 4 of us all attended the same college at the same time. Then, they lived 6 houses down from us in our old neighborhood. Now they live just 3 houses away from us. But, we didn't get to know them until we all started going to the same church. They're a wonderful family & we really enjoy spending time with them.

Catroon

One evening, we noticed that one of our cushions on a patio chair had been ripped down the middle. The stuffing was halfway pulled out! The kids wondered what could have done this. Somehow, they decided that it was a raccoon, or "catroon" as Sugie kept referring to it.

So, the hubby pulled up this picture of a raccoon for them to look at. Well, this obviously frightened the children. Sugie didn't want to sleep in her bed that night because she was worried about the "catroon" lurking outside. I keep trying to convince them that it was a soft, furry bunny. I don't think it's working.

Great Weeks

At the end of Madison's 2nd week of 1st grade, she received a report home from the teacher that she had a "Great Week"!

This same day, Buddy came home from school with a "Student of the Day" award because he had such an awesome week.

My kids are so good!! Way to go, loves!

MRSA?

Sugie was still having some major skin issues, so we went back to the doctor for another look. In addition to the 8 week long very itchy rash that she currently has, Sugie has quarter-sized sores on the back of her legs. It started off as eczema, then got infected with impetigo, and is now something else. The doctor doesn’t think it’s MRSA (that’s too scary to even think about), but that’s how he’s treating it.

Splash Park

We took the kids out of town a couple of weeks ago for the afternoon– we went to Boonville! Why Boonville? Because they have a super cool splash park! Several of our friends had raved about this new splash park, so we loaded up the kids and didn’t tell them where we were headed. They just knew that they were going to get wet.

They were so excited when they saw the splash park!! The hubby and I looked all around for a button to get the water going. (That’s what we had to do at our Gulf Shores condo, so we assumed this park worked the same way.) Apparently, the parks department has to turn the water on and off. Although the splash park is supposed to be “splashing” until 7 pm, they decided to turn it off at 4 pm, a ½ hour before our arrival to Boonville.

We were so bummed!! (So were the people at a birthday party standing around in dry swimwear.) But, the kids had fun playing on the playground and dreaming about what could have been in the water area. We promised to take them back soon so that they could actually play in the water.
