Family Fun

On Sunday evening, we met with three other families for dinner and a fun activity. The adults were way outnumbered – 8 adults to 11 kids (3 girls and 8 boys!). We all decorated pumpkins and then let the kids run around wild. We were having a super time until dusk hit and the swarms of mosquitos came out!!! We’re looking forward to our next get together in a few weeks.

15 year reunion

On Saturday night, we spent a child-free evening (yea!) at the hubby’s 15 year high school reunion. It was fun talking with his old classmates and seeing the funny pictures of my hubby before I met him! We even ended up staying longer than planned b/c we were having such a good time!

The kids had a wonderful time at Mimi’s house! Sugie and my sweet niece played Fashion Show and Beauty Shop. Sugie came home with orange and blue nails and toes! Buddy ate marshmallows and BBQ chips and played cars with Mimi.

Fall “Festible”

Sugie had been asking us all week, “When are we going to the Fall Festible?” She has been upset with us ever since her friends went to the 4H Fair over the summer and we didn’t take her. So, on Friday afternoon we ventured to the Westside for our annual visit to the Fall Festival. First, we spent way too much money for tickets to the rides and then waited way too long in the hot sun to ride these rides. But, we all had a super time going down the big slide together!! At first, Buddy wasn’t too sure about riding the Teddy Bears, but loved it when the ride started.

After the rides, we walked down the street looking for some hot, greasy food. The kids loved the Pronto Pups! Buddy ate all of the breading off first and then ate the hot dog. Sugie LOVED her Dippin’ Dots and kindly shared them with her begging brother. The kids also had cotton candy and cookies. We stuck to the basics this year and didn’t try anything outrageous, like a Kangaroo Burrito or Scorpion Suckers. I really enjoyed the breaded green beans. It was a fun afternoon!

I knew I was a Princess!

I've been treated like a princess my whole life! My mom must have recognized my princess qualities early on because she was my #1 princess supporter all through my childhood. (Ok - I'll admit it continues through my adulthood, too!) Of course, I married a wonderful man was has carried on my princess pampering!! The future looks bright for my precious princess-in-training - little Sugie! With her attitude and headstrong personality, she may bypass the Princess title and head straight for Queen!

I love both of my children more than words can describe. They are both amazing little people and I cherish every second with them. Pretty much since the start of her life, Sugie has always preferred her daddy. She wants him to hold her, to ride in his car, wants him to play with her, etc.

So naturally, when Buddy came along, he chose me as his favorite!! Yea!! When he was a baby, I had to hold him for at least ½ an hour when I got home from work. He still follows me everywhere, wants me to hold him all of the time, and insists that I get him out of his crib in the morning. I love it!!! My little boy and I have a very special bond. So, whenever I cuddle Sugie or hold her on my lap, Buddy runs over and says, “No! That’s my mommy!” It’s kind of cute to watch them argue over me! I feel loved!

My Two Sunshines

Electrifying!

Since 2008 has been the year of household repairs, we knew that something else was going to come along soon. Surprisingly, nothing needed to be fixed/replaced/thrown to the curb in August. When drying my hair yesterday, the dryer suddenly stopped. This was not good since my hair was still sopping wet. I plugged in my straightener so that it could maybe help with my hair crisis. But, that didn’t work either! Turns out, I had just blow a fuse in the bathroom. No big deal! Hair crisis averted! Whew!

So, my repairman hubby went downstairs to flip the circuit breaker. I jumped 10 feet when I heard an explosion and then a few words coming from the hubby in the basement. Luckily, he was ok with all parts intact and no singed eyebrows. But, we lost two circuit breakers (and some $$$ for the electrician’s service call) due to a fluke with the wiring. At least everything is fixed! What will it be next?
